Kogi PDP Endorses Natasha As Sole Senatorial Candidate

    Published on

The Kogi State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ratified an automatic ticket for the senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, as the party’s sole candidate for the district in the 2027 general election.

The decision was taken on Thursday during a meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Lokoja, the state capital.

Members of the committee endorsed the earlier approval granted by the State Chairman of the party, Muhammed Gambo, and declared Akpoti-Uduaghan the unanimous choice of the PDP for the Kogi Central Senatorial District race.

The committee also affirmed Akpoti-Uduaghan as the leader of the PDP in Kogi State, citing what it described as her consistent support for the party and her financial contributions to its activities and structure.

Speaking on behalf of members of the working committee, Gambo commended the senator’s performance at the National Assembly, saying she had continued to give the party positive visibility through her work.

He said, “She has continued to make the party proud through purposeful representation.”

The chairman added that the senator’s impact was not limited to legislative duties, noting that she had also supported development efforts in Kogi Central.

Gambo said Akpoti-Uduaghan had made notable contributions to her constituency through empowerment programmes and infrastructure projects.

He said, “Beyond her legislative duties, her impact in Kogi Central through empowerment programmes and her investments in infrastructure development have been outstanding.”

According to him, some of the projects linked to the senator include the construction of schools and markets, provision of housing accommodation and skills training initiatives for constituents.

He added, “These include the construction of schools and markets, provision of housing accommodation, and skills training initiatives for constituents.”

The PDP said the senator’s record of representation and commitment to the party made her the most suitable candidate to fly its flag in the next senatorial election.

The party assured Akpoti-Uduaghan of its continued loyalty and support ahead of the 2027 polls.

It said the automatic ticket was a reflection of confidence in her leadership, performance and popularity among members of the party in Kogi Central.

The development comes days after the lawmaker declared her intention to seek re-election. Akpoti-Uduaghan had, on Monday, said her decision to return to the Senate followed months of consultations and pressure from constituents across the five local government areas that make up Kogi Central.
