‎Seasoned actor, director and producer,  Sunny Alli, has said he does not believe in money rituals, and avoids writing supernatural storylines that cannot be verified.

‎Speaking during an episode of Oyinmomo on YouTube, the actor who starred in films like Omo Ghetto, Lagos Girls, Omo Olè and Okan Soso explained that he prefers realistic scripts based on experiences people can relate with.

‎Alli stated that themes like witch meetings do not feature in his work because there is no evidence to show they exist.

‎“There are some lines that can never be in my scripts. Like witch meetings, I feel it is not realistic because we do not know if it is true. No one has experienced it. Do they rent a hall? Some even say they wear red clothes. Who went there?” he asked.

‎He argued that no one has confirmed attending such meetings or seen what witches look like, so he would rather write about real-life situations such as accidents.

‎“Who is the witch that documented everything? How do witches even look? I can write about hit-and-run because it is real. Those are things people experience,” he said.

‎He also questioned the logic behind money ritual stories popular in Nollywood.

‎According to him, the idea that a demon provides money does not make sense because it raises questions about where the money comes from.

‎“I always say I do not believe in money rituals because I once asked them a question. They said a demon brings money. Does the demon have a printing machine? Will it steal money from the Central Bank of Nigeria or a Bureau de Change?” he said.

‎He noted that when pressed for answers, people often switch to another story about mysterious contracts that were never applied for.

‎“I asked them, and they were confused, so they came up with another myth that the money comes through a contract that the person did not even bid for. I love realistic scripts. I do not believe in money rituals,” he added.

‎The filmmaker said his focus remains on stories that reflect everyday reality instead of myths he cannot confirm.

‎Alli also shared that he once engaged in football betting but stopped, saying it was not something he supports anymore.

‎“I used to bet before. I mean football betting, but God does not support it. We thank God it is now in the past,” he said.
