The Kaduna State Government has reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability in grassroots governance following the April 2026 statutory meeting of the Local Government Joint Account Allocation Committee.

The meeting was held at the Governor Uba Sani Conference Hall and brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on fiscal coordination and development priorities across the state’s 23 local government areas.

Presiding over the session, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Sadiq Mamman Lagos, stressed the need for prudent financial management and collaborative decision-making to deliver democratic dividends at the grassroots level. He noted that the administration of Uba Sani remains focused on strengthening institutional frameworks to ensure that funds allocated to local governments are efficiently utilized for the benefit of citizens.

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mahmud Lawal, alongside all 23 Local Government Council Chairmen and their Finance and Budget Deputies. Also present were directors from the ministry and representatives of key agencies, including the State Universal Basic Education Board, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, the Office of the Accountant General, the Primary Health Care Board, the Pension Bureau, and the Local Government Service Board.

Deliberations centered on enhancing fiscal discipline, improving inter-agency coordination, and aligning resource allocation with priority sectors such as education, healthcare, and rural infrastructure. Stakeholders also reviewed revenue inflows and explored strategies to maximize the impact of public spending at the local level.

The JAAC meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by the Kaduna State Government to institutionalize transparency in financial processes and ensure that local government administrations remain responsive to the needs of their communities.
