Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, has called on the wives of state governors to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for good governance. During a meeting with the wives of governors from across the nation and the representative from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at the Presidential Villa, the First Lady stressed the importance of cooperation in addressing issues affecting citizens.

She praised the governors’ wives for their personal projects and initiatives aimed at assisting vulnerable individuals in society. The meeting also served as an opportunity for the First Lady to share her experiences from trips to other nations and to update the forum on relevant issues.

Oluremi Tinubu highlighted the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to address the challenges. She provided statistics indicating that about 1.98 million people are living with HIV/AIDS in the country, with alarming rates of infection among adults and children.

The First Lady announced that Tinubu’s administration had secured financial grants from the Global Fund to provide HIV testing kits for adults and dual testing kits for HIV and Syphilis for pregnant women nationwide. She emphasized the importance of a unifying message to combat HIV/AIDS, drawing parallels with previous efforts during the Ebola Virus and Covid-19 pandemics.

The First Lady, along with the wives of governors, pledged to take the advocacy to traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders, educational institutions, and various corners of the nation to fight against HIV/AIDS and work towards achieving an end to the epidemic by 2030.
