The Joint Planning Committee for the 32nd Nigerian Economic Summit (NES#32) has been inaugurated by the Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite.
This year’s summit according to her will be held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja from October 26 to 27, 2026.
Speaking during the meeting, the minister who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Odoh, said the gathering “represents yet another significant milestone in strengthening the enduring partnership between Government and the Private Sector as we work collectively towards the successful delivery of this year’s Summit”.
She said the value of effective public-private collaboration cannot be overstated, across both advanced and emerging economies, as such partnerships have proven to be powerful drivers of economic growth, innovation, and sustainable development.
The minister said in Nigeria, the Summit platform stands as a compelling example of what can be achieved when both sectors align their efforts towards a common national vision even as she commend the members of the Joint Planning Committee for the success of the 31st Nigerian Economic Summit (NES #31).
Dr Anite also commended the Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), and its Board, and the leadership of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning for their exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the Summit process.
“The high level of participation and the quality of policy recommendations that emerged from the 31st Summit were truly remarkable. As we move forward, our goal is not only to sustain this momentum but to surpass it”, she added.
The Terms of Reference of the JPC include to organize a successful Summit, review the outcomes of the 31st Nigerian Economic Summit and draw lessons therefrom; undertake all preparatory activities for NES#32, including the development of a theme that is consistent to the current economic realities; prepare programme of events and implementation timelines.
The committee is also to determine the budgetary requirements and identify funding sources and mobilise critical stakeholders across the public and private sectors, including Federal, State, and Local Governments, as well as the National and State Assemblies to attend the Summit.
In his good will message, the Chief Executive Officer of NESG, Dr Aduloju said the Economic Summit is a miracle in the sense that over the years it has overcome institutional distrust adding that it is the longest unbroken public-private dialogue.
