Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Olisa Agbakoba, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his inaugural address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

During the 78th session of UNGA, President Tinubu addressed world leaders, highlighting the adverse effects of unfair treatment and foreign exploitation on Africa’s growth and development. He emphasized the urgency for UN member states to take concrete actions against illegal arms and mineral smuggling involving companies and individuals in and out of Africa.

President Tinubu also called for the protection of Africa’s mineral-rich regions from exploitation and conflict, with a specific reference to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the involvement of foreign entities in illegal resource extraction. He expressed concern about the impact of resource pillaging on African nations and urged international cooperation to end this injustice and alleviate poverty in the region.

In response to President Tinubu’s address, Olisa Agbakoba expressed his admiration on the X platform, stating that no African leader has represented the continent in such a manner at the UNGA. Agbakoba described the president’s speech as a well-received statement, asserting that Africans are not beggars but equal partners on the global stage.

He invoked the legacy of Kwame Nkrumah and his vision for a pan-African agenda for development, noting that President Tinubu’s speech echoed this sentiment. Agbakoba called on Africans to unite and declare to the world that they are awake and not beggars but equal partners.

In summary, Olisa Agbakoba commended President Tinubu for delivering a significant statement at the UNGA, highlighting the importance of Africa’s role in global affairs and advocating for equality and partnership.
