Global music star, Shakira, has officially released “Dai Dai,” the anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, in collaboration with Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Burna Boy.

The Colombian singer announced the release of the highly anticipated track on Friday through her social media platforms.

“Dai Dai is here. The @FIFAWorldCup 2026 starts now!” she wrote.

World football governing body, FIFA, also confirmed the release of the song in a statement posted on its official X handle, revealing that the track is now available on all major streaming platforms.

According to FIFA, the song embodies the spirit and excitement expected to define the global football tournament.

“Today, excitement for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ continues to build with the release of Dai Dai, featuring Shakira and Burna Boy via Sony Music Latin.

“Available now on all major streaming platforms, the track captures the energy, passion and global spirit that will define the greatest show on earth,” the statement read.

FIFA disclosed that proceeds generated from the song would support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative targeted at raising $100m before the end of the tournament to provide children across the world with access to quality education and football opportunities.

“Dai Dai will be the Official FIFA World Cup 2026™ Song in support of FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise USD100 million by the end of the tournament to provide children around the world with access to quality education and football opportunities,” FIFA added.

The organisation further stated that Shakira would donate her royalties from the song to the fund, while Sony Music would match the first $250,000 raised with an additional contribution.

The inspirational track contains themes centred on resilience, ambition, unity and global togetherness.

In one of the verses, the artistes referenced legendary football figures including Pelé, Diego Maradona, Paolo Maldini, Romário, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrés Iniesta, David Beckham, Kaká, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah.

The song also highlights several football-loving nations, including Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, the United States, England, Germany, France, South Africa, Spain, Mexico, Japan, South Korea and the Netherlands.

The release marks Shakira’s return to the FIFA World Cup stage after the success of her previous tournament songs, Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and La La La for the 2014 tournament in Brazil.

For Burna Boy, the collaboration marks another major global milestone for Afrobeats on the international stage.

It also makes him the second Nigerian artist to feature on an official FIFA World Cup song after Davido appeared on Hayya Hayya (Better Together) alongside American singer Trinidad Cardona and Qatari artist AISHA.

Meanwhile, FIFA also announced that Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to hold in Los Angeles on June 12.

The football body further revealed that Shakira would co-headline the tournament’s final halftime show on July 19, which will mark the first halftime performance in FIFA World Cup history.

According to FIFA, the halftime show will unite global entertainers “at the intersection of sport, culture, and purpose” in support of the education fund.

The organisation added that “Dai Dai” joins other previously released songs from the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album, including “Lighter,” “Por Ella,” “Echo,” and “Illuminate,” with more singles expected ahead of the tournament.
