The Bayelsa State Police Command, in collaboration with the Joint Task Force, has recorded a major operational breakthrough with the arrest of 14 suspects and the recovery of firearms and other exhibits during a raid in Ogboinbiri Community.
Preliminary investigation revealed that on May 10, 2026, at about 2:30 p.m., police operatives attached to the command and personnel of the Joint Task Force, acting on credible intelligence, executed a search warrant at the residence of one “Lionface,” identified as a loyalist to the former youth president of the community, Pere Experience, and the Deputy Paramount Ruler of the community.
During the operation, the security operatives recovered four pump-action guns, three packets of cartridges, and four operational speedboats mounted with engines suspected to have been used for criminal activities along the waterways.
Police authorities disclosed that 14 suspects were arrested in connection with the operation, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend the principal suspect, popularly known as “Lionface,” who is currently at large.
The Commissioner of Police, Iyamah Daniel Edebor, commended the operatives for the successful operation and reassured residents of the command’s commitment to sustaining the ongoing crackdown on criminal elements across the state.
He also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and useful information that would aid ongoing efforts to rid the state of crime and criminality.
In a statement issued and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Musa Mohammed, the command reiterated its resolve to ensure the safety and security of residents across Bayelsa State.
