The Police Service Commission (PSC) and Lagos Business School (LBS), Pan-Atlantic University, have begun discussions on a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening capacity building and enhancing professionalism within the Commission.

This development emerged during a courtesy visit by a delegation from Lagos Business School to the PSC headquarters, where both institutions explored areas of collaboration, particularly in the training of Commission officials.

Leading the delegation, Mr. Victor Banjo, mni, said the visit was part of efforts to build synergy with the Commission in the area of human capacity development. He commended the leadership of the PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), mni, for restoring credibility and public confidence in the Commission’s operations, especially the ongoing recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Banjo praised the Commission’s commitment to transparency, ethical standards and sustainability in the recruitment process, expressing confidence that the calibre of candidates being recruited into the police would reflect those values.

He noted that the reforms being introduced by the current PSC leadership would contribute significantly to improving the quality and professionalism of personnel entering the Nigeria Police Force.

Responding, PSC Chairman DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), mni, welcomed the proposed collaboration and assured the delegation of the Commission’s readiness to work closely with Lagos Business School in the training and development of its workforce.

Argungu reiterated the Commission’s determination to ensure that only qualified and competent Nigerians are recruited into the Nigeria Police Force, stressing that the ongoing exercise is being conducted in line with global best practices.

“Processes and procedures determine product or output,” the PSC Chairman stated, emphasizing the importance of maintaining integrity and professionalism throughout the recruitment process.

The partnership is expected to enhance institutional capacity within the Commission while supporting ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening policing standards and public trust in Nigeria’s security institutions.

The visit underscores growing collaboration between public institutions and academic bodies in promoting effective governance, leadership development and sustainable public sector reforms.
