Officials explain reason for Abuja Airport passengers’ delay

    Published on

Operations at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport were disrupted on Monday after a technical fault in baggage screening equipment slowed activities at the domestic terminals.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria confirmed the glitch, while domestic carriers said the issue affected standard processing procedures.

In a statement, Air Peace apologised to passengers, noting that alternative screening measures had been introduced to keep flights operating safely, although the additional checks led to longer processing times and some departure delays.

“We understand the inconvenience and uncertainty this may cause.

“To minimize disruption, the airport management said it has proactively activated alternative screening procedures using available equipment to ensure flights continue operating safely.

“However, these additional steps may result in longer processing times and possible delays to some departures”, the statement reads.

Other domestic airlines also expressed regret over the disruption.
