The Executive Chairman of Jaba Local Government Area has called on the people of Hamland to embrace humility, prayer, and righteous living as essential steps toward societal healing and transformation.
He made this appeal while addressing participants at the Prayer Retreat Summit of the Ham people, themed “Hamland Turns to God,” inspired by the biblical passage 2 Chronicles 7:14.
Describing the gathering as both “an honor and a moment of spiritual urgency,” the Chairman emphasized that the theme represents more than a slogan, calling it a divine mandate for change. He explained that the scripture outlines clear conditions for transformation, including humility, prayer, seeking God’s presence, and turning away from wrongdoing.
“We are not just gathered as individuals, but as a people bound by heritage, identity, and destiny,” he said. “God is calling us—the people of Hamland—to return to Him.”
The Chairman identified humility as the foundation for meaningful progress, noting that while pride has hindered growth, humility has the power to restore communities. He also described prayer as a vital connection between humanity and God, capable of aligning people with divine purpose.
He urged attendees to go beyond seeking material blessings and instead pursue a genuine relationship with God, stressing that real transformation requires intentional decisions and a commitment to values such as truth, discipline, and integrity.
“Hamland does not lack potential,” he stated. “Our land is rich in culture, strength, and promise. But for our land to be healed, our hearts must first be healed.”
Highlighting the role of individuals in driving change, the Chairman encouraged citizens to reflect on their personal contributions to the state of their communities, noting that societal renewal begins at the grassroots level.
He expressed optimism that a collective return to God would result in restored families, strengthened institutions, renewed peace, and a revival of hope across Hamland.
Describing the retreat as a “turning point,” he called for sincere repentance and a renewed commitment to positive change among participants.
“The healing of Hamland will not come from afar—it will come from within us,” he concluded, adding that adherence to the principles outlined in scripture would attract divine forgiveness and restoration.
The summit attracted members of the Ham community from across the region, who gathered in unity for prayer and reflection on the future of their land.
