The Enugwu-Agidi Stakeholders’ Forum (ESF) has come to the defence of its Chairman, Ambassador Prince Emeka Egwuekwe, following allegations made against him in an open letter addressed to Anambra State Commissioner, Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunwanne.

In a rejoinder signed by the Forum’s Secretary, Sir John Uche Okafor, and made available to the press, the ESF commended Prince Chinedu Ikeanyi for his historical account of Enugwu-Agidi but disputed his claims regarding the Chairman’s role in the community’s affairs.

The Forum described the allegations as “baseless and misleading,” insisting that Egwuekwe has been instrumental in fostering peace and reconciliation among warring factions in Enugwu-Agidi.

According to the statement, the accusations stem from “incomplete information,” and the Forum provided additional context to counter what it called “distorted narratives.”

The ESF further demanded a public apology and retraction of the open letter, citing the reputational damage caused to its Chairman. It added that while it would refrain from engaging in further controversy, it sought only clarification and vindication.

A key point of the rejoinder emphasized that Ambassador Egwuekwe was officially appointed to mediate peace in Enugwu-Agidi, leading a fact-finding mission and submitting recommendations toward resolving the communal crisis.

The Forum also acknowledged the intervention of prominent Anambra figures, including Hon. Commissioner Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, in efforts to restore harmony to the town.
