    Prof Uche Ikonne, Abia PDP guber candidate is dead

    Prof Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 governorship election in Abia State is dead.

    He died at the National Hospital Abuja on Wednesday at 4 am after a brief illness.

    It was gathered that Ikonne was recovering at the national hospital after taking proper treatment in the United Kingdom but relapsed, leading to multiple cardiac arrests, for which he did not recover from.

    Dr Uche- Ikonne Chikezie, son of the deceased has confirmed the death of the Abia PDP governorship candidate.

    Confirming the incident, Dr Ikonne wrote: “I regret to announce the death of my dear father, Prof Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne, who died at the National Hospital Abuja today January 2023 25, by 4 am after a brief illness.

    “He was recovering after taking proper treatment in the United Kingdom but relapsed a few days ago leading to multiple cardiac arrests from which he didn’t recover from.

    “Further details and arrangements would be made known to the public after deliberations and meetings are made within the family”.
