‎The African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Youth Wing, on Friday, formally petitioned the National Judicial Council (NJC), demanding that Justice Peter Lifu be removed from all matters relating to the party, and recommending his dismissal from the judiciary.

‎The group, led by ADC National Youth Leader, Comrade Balarabe Rufai, accused the judge of bias and judicial misconduct, particularly over a ruling that directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the ADC and four other political parties.

‎ADC youths described the judgment as a deliberate attempt to weaken Nigeria’s multiparty democracy and force the country towards a two-party system.

‎They also alleged that security operatives blocked access to the NJC headquarters in Abuja while they attempted to submit the petition.

‎The group has vowed to sustain its protests until the NJC investigates the matter and takes appropriate action.
