Due to the prevailing insecurity in the country in general and Edo State in particular, the Edo State Government has ordered early closure of all public and private primary/secondary schools in the state.
This was made known in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Otamere Enodolomwanyi, and addressed to the Executive Principals of Public Secondary Schools, Head Teachers of Public Primary Schools, Proprietors/Proprietresses of Private Schools, and the Executive Chairman, State Secondary Education Board.
It also copied: the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, Executive Chairman, Board for Technical and Vocational Education, Director-General, Directorate of Educational Quality and Accountability, All Directors, Ministry of Education, and All Chief Inspectors of Education in the 18 local government areas.
The directive is that the Third Term Examination for the 2025/2026 Academic Session shall commence on Monday, July 6, and end on Friday, July 10, 2026.
This new directive is against the earlier plan that the schools are to close on July 30, 2026.
“Accordingly, all school heads are required to make adequate preparations for the successful conduct of the examination and ensure strict compliance with all approved examination regulations and guidelines.
”All public and private schools in the State are informed that the Third Term Examination for the 2025/2026 Academic Session shall commence on Monday, 6th July and end on Friday, 10th July, 2026. He stated.
”In particular, school heads are expected to: prepare and administer examination questions in all subjects offered by their schools, ensure adequate supervision and monitoring of candidates throughout the examination period uphold the highest standards of examination ethics and discourage all forms of examination malpractice, Ensure prompt marking of scripts and timely compilation of results, Process and submit promotion results as may be directed by the appropriate authorities.
“Furthermore, the promotion of pupils and students shall be based on the approved assessment procedures, taking into consideration Continuous Assessment scores and examination performance. All concerned are hereby requested to accord this circular the attention and compliance it deserves,” the statement read.
