    ICPC Making Progress in Fight Against Corruption—Owasanoye

    The Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practice and Related Offences Commission ICPC, Professor Bolaji Owasanoye has said that the commission is making progress in the fight against corrupt practices despite the challenges facing it.

    He said that the commision would continue to maintain it’s opposition to corruption to enable it deliver on its core mandates.

    The Commissioner was speaking on Thursday while speaking at the official commissioning of the ultra modern prototype office in Lokoja ,the Kogi State capital.

    He explained that ICPC was obliged to have offices in the 36 States of the federation including Abuja ,stressing that this was in bid to ensure that the staff of the commission operate in a conducive environment for better performances.

    The ICPC bos pointed out that this is the first time the commission is putting up this prototype edifice, noting that as at today ,the Commission has offices in 21 states of the federation while this prototype would be replicated in Akure ,Anambra and Asaba .

    He stated that the main objective of the independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission is to curb corrupt practices stressing that it is therefore necessary to work in an enabling environment.

    He therefore expressed gratitude to the Kogi State governor for graciously approving the land in which the edifice was erected, commending him for his enormous support in a bid to fight against corrupt.

    He also lauded the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on anti corruption of the o National Assembly for their wonderful support in the bid to fight corruption across the country.

    The Chairman equally commended the entire board members of commission for the total committee to deliver on its mandate, noting that without them all the achievements so far would not have been possible.

    Senator Lekan Balogun who represented the Chairman Senate Committee on Anti Corruption, Senator Abdul Suleiman Kwari lauded the State government for the support for ICPC in the State.
    He commended the Chairman for the commitment to move the commission to the next level and pledged the continued support in the years ahead.

    Also in his remarks , the House of Representatives committee on anti Corruption ,Nicolas Garba Shehu Serikinuma lauded the chairman of ICPC ,Professor Bolaji Owasanoye for lifting the commision to enviable position today, stressing that the House of Representatives is always ready to support ICPC to ensure they carry out their assignment.

    The State governor Yahaya Bello expressed gratitude to the ICPC boss for putting up a befitting edifice in Kogi , stressing that the State government will always partner with the commission to achieving its mandate of fighting corruption to a standstill.
