Tinubu Took A Timely Decision In Rivers State – Sunday Dare

According to reports, Dare stated that the Senate and House of Representatives’ ratification of the President’s action was the correct course of action and in accordance with the Constitution.

Due to the state’s political turmoil, the president’s spokesperson claimed in an interview with TVC on Thursday that the state’s court was the only remaining branch of government.

Dare emphasized that all of the president’s actions in the state were compliant with the constitution of the nation.

He said: “I think it’s crucial that we know that Mr. President’s decision a few days ago to declare a state of emergency in Rivers States is in constitutional accord. Additionally, the actions taken by the National Assembly today are consistent with the Constitution’s requirements. A proclamation comes first, followed by a gazette. Then the Senate, followed by the two-thirds majority in the House. And all of these procedures have been carried out in accordance with our nation’s constitution, step by step, and without any problems.

The trigger, in my opinion, must be, and Mr. President deserves recognition for stepping in and making a prompt decision. We all witnessed the happenings in Rivers State, and after 18 and 20 months, we saw that the judiciary was left standing after two of the three pillars of democracy had already fallen.

“The president, Rivers State leaders, political figures, and traditional leaders have all made attempts. All of that has come to nothing. We had reached a critical juncture. The president was then required to take action in accordance with Section 305 of the Constitution as modified. And he acted within the bounds of the law in doing so.
