facilitates 105 KWASU law students’ admission to law school

Kwara State government has facilitated the absorption of 105 law students of the State University (KWASU), Malete, into the Nigerian Law School after previously being denied admission by the Council on Legal Education in Nigeria due to non-accreditation issues, which had since been amicably resolved.

The State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Mary Ronke Arinde, who disclosed this on Wednesday in Ilorin, the state capital, at the quarterly inter-ministerial press briefing, organised by the Ministry of Communications, reiterated administration’s commitment to effective service delivery across the tertiary institutions in the State.

The Commissioner said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration had invested hugely in tertiary institutions across the State, “part of which is the ongoing construction of the Kwara State University’s satellite campuses at Osi and Ilesha-Baruba, which have both attained 90 percent completion”.

Dr. Arinde also disclosed that approval has been secured from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the establishment of the Kwara State University of Education in Ilorin.

She applauded Governor AbdulRazaq for the recent appointment of Professor Medinat Folorunsho Salman as the pioneer Acting Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University of Education.

The Commissioner was optimistic that Prof. Salman would justify the confidence reposed in her by offering her wealth of experience in the successful smooth running of the newly established university of Education in the State.

Dr. Arinde also highlighted numerous giant strides through which the present administration had invested in the tertiary education sector, part of which is the several approval and release of funds for sponsorship of scholarships abroad to Kwara youths in tertiary institutions for higher learning and professional advancements.

The Commissioner, however, admonished all heads of tertiary institutions in the State to complement government’s investments with enhanced, efficient and effective service delivery in the learning methodology and administration that would lift the various citadels of learning to greater heights.
