The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expanded its Enugu State Council with the inauguration of executive members of the new Corporate Online Chapel, bringing the total number of chapels in the state to eleven.

During the inauguration ceremony held in Enugu, Chief Sam Udekwe, Chairman of NUJ Enugu State Council, urged the newly inaugurated executive members to foster inclusivity within the chapel and uphold the principles of truth and objectivity in journalism.

Emphasizing the significance of the Corporate Online Chapel, Udekwe highlighted that membership is exclusive to qualified online practitioners who are journalists, distinguishing them from mere bloggers or online publishers who may not adhere to journalistic standards.

He encouraged the executives to promote peace and collaboration among members of the chapel and the broader NUJ council, ensuring a harmonious working relationship.

In his response, Chief Clinton Umeh, Chairman of the newly inaugurated Corporate Online Chapel, expressed gratitude to the National President of NUJ, Chief Chris Isiguzo, for approving the creation of the new chapel. Umeh pledged the commitment of chapel members to adhere to the NUJ Constitution and fulfill their responsibilities diligently.

The newly inaugurated executive members include Sir Jonathan Ikechukwu (First News) as Vice-Chairman, Chief Odomero Igbodo (Dome TV) as Secretary, Sir Christian Nwangene (Aproko Republic) as Assistant Secretary, Dame Maureen Ikpeama (Newsline Global) as Treasurer, Dr Sebastine Okafor (Journalist 101) as Internal Auditor, and Mr Emmanuel Terwase (Afriquecast) as Financial Secretary, among others.

The event was attended by Amb. Regis Anikworji, Vice Chairman of NUJ, and Dame Ifeoma Amuta, Secretary of the Council, along with other members of the union.
