The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Keyamo, has accused the opposition Labour Party of using the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to disrupt economic activities in the country. Keyamo made this assertion in response to the closure of the entry and exit gates of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by the NLC and Trade Union Congress (TUC).
Expressing his concerns, the minister urged labour leaders to cease disrupting aviation activities across the country. Keyamo condemned the reported molestation of NLC Chairman Joe Ajaero and advised individuals to avoid environments that may lead to such incidents.
Keyamo clarified that aviation was not involved in the alleged molestation and urged the unions not to target aviation, as it affects both domestic and foreign travelers. He emphasized the need for the labour movement to avoid being manipulated by political interests.
In his appeal to the unions, Keyamo stressed the importance of preserving the integrity of the labour movement and urged leaders to come together for constructive dialogue. He cautioned against allowing political affiliations to overshadow the genuine concerns of workers, emphasizing that the current actions appeared more political than focused on the welfare of workers.
While expressing condemnation for the alleged assault on Joe Ajaero, Keyamo also advised individuals to avoid putting themselves in situations that could lead to such incidents.
