The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has announced the appointment of Olatunji Disu as the new Commissioner of Police for Rivers State, among several other appointments aimed at strengthening security measures and addressing violent crimes across Nigeria. This decision, outlined in a signal dispatched and seen by DAILY POST, takes immediate effect.
The newly appointed police officers are tasked with demonstrating professional competence in their respective offices, ensuring optimal coordination of police operations. In Rivers State, Olatunji Disu replaces CP Nwonyi Emeka, following a series of incidents, including an explosion at the State House of Assembly that led to protests and arrests.
Disu’s appointment comes after his recent promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police, and his prior role as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja. He also served at the State Criminal Investigation Department for Rivers Command as the Deputy Head of the Unit.
