Lagos State to Prosecute Nightclub Staff for Assault on LASEPA Officials

    Published on

The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has declared the intention to prosecute all 11 employees of the 10 POTS Night Club located at 2A Admiralty Way, Lekki. These employees are accused of assaulting state officials and breaking the seal placed by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) along with the property owner.

This announcement follows the arrest of the 11 employees, consisting of four males and seven females, who were taken into custody for their alleged attack on state officials. The nightclub had been sealed by LASEPA due to noise pollution.

The Commissioner stated that all 11 individuals, as well as the property owner, will be arraigned in court on Monday. This legal action is intended to serve as a deterrent to others who may contemplate engaging in similar illegal actions.

It was reported that the arrested employees removed the LASEPA seal used to secure the premises between 11:11 am and 11:33 am on Saturday, October 14, after the enforcement activities. By 12:44 pm, when LASEPA officials returned to the Club, it had already been reopened and was operating as usual. Efforts to reseal the premises were met with violent resistance from the staff, resulting in injuries to state officials and the need for additional security reinforcements.
