Today, the Ogun State Governorship Election Tribunal is poised to deliver its judgement regarding the petition filed by Ladi Adebutu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the March 18 election, challenging the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun. The tribunal had informed all concerned parties about the scheduled judgement date last Thursday.

Obioma Ezenta, the Secretary of the Ogun Tribunal, confirmed the announcement date on Friday, stating that all parties were aware of the tribunal’s decision, scheduled for September 30.

Adebutu and the PDP contested the results of the March 18 governorship polls, alleging irregularities and demanding the nullification of Governor Abiodun’s victory. Adebutu, in particular, has petitioned the tribunal, seeking a declaration of his victory in the Ogun State Governorship election, asserting that the election leading to Abiodun’s second term was marred by violence and rigging.

However, as the tribunal prepares to render its judgement today at the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, media access faced significant restrictions. Security personnel and agents from the Department of State Services (DSS) stationed at the court entrance denied entry to certain media outlets. According to reports, The Nation, among other media platforms, was not permitted access, citing an official list of approved media organizations allowed entry for the day.
