On September 26, 2023, aircraft under the Air Component of Operation UDO KA II conducted multiple airstrikes on locations associated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Mother Valley Orsumughu, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, and Aku Ihube, Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State. These strikes were carried out to target IPOB/ESN hideouts.

The military action was part of efforts to disrupt the criminal activities of these groups, prevent them from carrying out destructive acts, and halt their violence against innocent civilians.

Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Airforce Director of Public Relations and Information, reported that the airstrikes achieved their intended results and were deemed effective. He explained that the decision to conduct the airstrikes was based on credible intelligence indicating that IPOB/ESN terrorists were planning to disrupt civic activities in Anambra State and other Southeastern states. The strikes were conducted in coordination with ground troops and other security agencies.

The airstrikes successfully hit the targets, resulting in visible destruction and the dispersal of fleeing terrorists from the location. Similar airstrikes were carried out at the IPOB/ESN hideout camps in Aku Ihube, Imo State, following intelligence analysis that indicated a gathering of terrorists at that location.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and other security agencies remain committed to ensuring the safety and freedom of all Nigerians to conduct their activities without fear or threats. The statement emphasized the unwavering determination of security agencies to combat criminal elements and called for the support of all Nigerians in defeating those who seek to sow fear and division among the citizens.
