The Police Service Commission has taken immediate action upon discovering a fake Facebook account in their name. They have directed the Nigeria Police Force to deactivate the account, as well as arrest and prosecute the fraudsters responsible.
In a statement by Ikechukwu Ani Head, Press and Public Relations on Monday, stated that the account already had 22,000 members and 1700 followers, was operated by an individual named Prosper Stephen, who is not associated with the Commission.
The Commission is deeply concerned about the existence of this fake account, especially during the commencement of the 2023 Police recruitment exercise. They fear that these fraudsters may exploit the platform to compromise future recruitments.
Therefore, urged Nigerians to be cautious and avoid falling into the hands of these criminals, who may attempt to defraud desperate job seekers on Facebook.
The Commission emphasizes that anyone found involved in this criminal activity will face serious consequences. They also advise Nigerians to report anyone demanding payment for any Commission program to the nearest Police station.
Rest assured, the Commission remains committed to operating within the established laws of the land and ensuring equal opportunities for every citizen.
