Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN has restored the Benin-Omotosho 330kV transmission line, paving the way for improved electricity supply to customers served by major electricity distribution companies in the southern part of the country.
In a statement issued by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, TCN said power was restored on the transmission line at 7:05 p.m following the successful completion of repair works.
The line had been out of service since June 25 after a conductor detached, disrupting power transmission along the corridor.
According to the company, its engineers carried out restringing and maintenance on the affected sections of the transmission line before restoring the facility to service.
With the transmission line now operational, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company BEDC, Eko Electricity Distribution Plc and Ikeja Electric will be able to off-take more electricity from the national grid for distribution to customers within their respective franchise areas.
TCN apologised to electricity consumers for the inconvenience caused by the outage and thanked affected customers for their patience, understanding and cooperation throughout the period of the disruption.
The company reiterated its commitment to maintaining a reliable transmission network to support improved power supply across the country.
