    Lookman speaks on dumping England for Nigeria

    Ademola Lookman adds that choosing to represent Nigeria has been a blessing for him.

    Lookman was born to Nigerian parents in Wandsworth, Greater London.

    In 2017, the 27-year-old won the FIFA U-20 World Cup with the youthful Three Lions while playing youth football for England.

    However, in February 2022, the winger changed allegiance to Nigeria, and a month later, he made his Super Eagles debut against Ghana in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

    Early this year, Lookman made his debut for Nigeria in a significant competition at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

    With three goals and one assist in seven games, the former Leicester City player had a significant impact on the campaign.

    Also included in the Team of the Tournament was the cunning winger.

    According to Lookman, his time playing for Nigeria has been incredible.

    For me, it was enormous since it marked a significant turning point in my professional life. It has been productive ever since I put on the Super Eagles uniform,” he said to Sporty TV.

    Together, we have accomplished a lot, and we continue to develop as a group. Within the squad, the team’s unity is something that is quite unique.

    “We demonstrated that in the previous AFCON; we advanced to the final but, regrettably, fell short.”
