The Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN has dismissed as false a statement by Kaduna Electric alleging transmission constraints affecting electricity supply to Jos and its environs, describing the claim as a deliberate misrepresentation of facts.

In a statement issued in response to the claim dated August 26, 2026, TCN said all 330kV transmission lines connected to Jos were in service and transmitting bulk electricity.

The transmission company explained that it recorded only one incident involving the Jos–Lafia 330kV Line 2 on August 23, 2026, when the circuit breaker was opened at about 3:30 a.m. for voltage control.

According to TCN, the action was a routine operational measure undertaken to maintain grid stability and was not an outage caused by a transmission fault.

The company said the line was successfully restored and returned to service at 11:59 a.m. on August 24, adding that there had been no outage or disruption of bulk electricity transmission on any 330kV line supplying Jos attributable to TCN since the restoration.

TCN urged Kaduna Electric and other electricity sector stakeholders to verify operational information with the transmission company before issuing public statements, warning that inaccurate claims could misinform electricity consumers and create unnecessary anxiety.

“TCN remains committed to transparency and to efficient transmission of bulk electricity to Distribution Companies nationwide,” the company said.

The transmission company also appealed to electricity customers in Jos and surrounding areas to disregard what it described as misleading information concerning transmission constraints.

TCN reaffirmed its commitment to working with Distribution Companies across the country to ensure stable and reliable electricity delivery, stressing that accurate information and effective coordination among sector operators remained essential to maintaining confidence in the power supply system.
