Kogi jailbreak, 12 prisoners break out

    Published on

In Kogi State, twelve prisoners broke out of a jail early on Monday.

This was verified by the Kogi State Government in a statement released by Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communication.

He praised security agencies for their prompt action in responding to the 12 detainees who broke out of the Federal Correctional Center in Kotonkarfe.

Fanwo called the situation “unfortunate” and reassured the public that the State administration is acting swiftly to stop it from happening again.

He said the government of Kogi State promised to cooperate with security forces to find out what happened.

There are significant issues with the theory that the prisoners fled through the tower without causing any structural damage.

In order to ascertain the precise circumstances of the escape, apprehend the escaping prisoners, and find potential systemic saboteurs, Fanwo stated that a comprehensive investigation is necessary.

Fanwo went on to say that in order to prevent future security breaches, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has instructed the State Security Adviser to work with the Federal Correctional Center and other security organizations.

Additionally, the state government has reiterated its dedication to providing logistical and other resources required to improve the operational efficacy of federal security services.

The government has reassured citizens that the issue is under control as investigations continue.

“There is no reason to be alarmed. Knowing that the safety of people and property is still our first priority, we urge citizens to carry on with their daily routines as usual. he added.
