The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, will establish a Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME centre in Ottawa, Canada, where Nigerians in North America can sit for the exam from 2027.
JAMB disclosed this in a post on its official social media platforms after its Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, visited the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa.
The board said the proposed centre would provide eligible Nigerians in Canada and other parts of North America easier access to the UTME, especially those seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
”The proposed centre will make it easier for Nigerians in the diaspora to sit for the UTME without travelling to Nigeria solely for the examination,” JAMB said.
It said the initiative is part of efforts towards “taking Nigerian tertiary education to the world” and strengthening connection between Nigerians abroad and the Nigerian education system.
The board added that the initiative would create greater opportunities to showcase Nigerian tertiary education internationally.
