‎‎Nigerian music artiste, Sexy Steel, in a video, has claimed that he owned the beat of the song ‘Dami Duro’, which became a hit that launched David Adeleke, known as Davido, into the music industry.
‎
‎But Davido, during an interview for the Afrobeat documentary, confirmed that the foundation of the ‘Dami Duro’ beat was created for Sexy Steel.
‎
‎According to the top musician, the song’s production process unfolded in a few key steps.
‎
‎While producing music in his studio in Lagos in 2011, he originally made the beat specifically for Sexy Steel.
‎
‎As the track developed, producer Shizzy came into the picture, contributing keys and overall production.
‎
‎Davido realised the instrumental’s massive potential, pivoted, and kept the beat for himself to record Dami Duro, which ultimately became his breakout hit.
‎
‎While Sexy Steel initially raised the claim regarding ownership/origins of the instrumental, Davido acknowledged those roots, clarifying how the beat transitioned into one of the defining Afrobeats anthems of the early 2010s.
