Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has received the 2026 Pillar of Integrity in Public Service Award for its commitment to ethics, transparency and accountability in the public service.
The award was presented to the NDIC Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Thompson Oludare Sunday, who was represented by the Head of Communication and Public Affairs, Hawwau Gambo, at the 2026 Verbatim Awards in Abuja.
The ceremony was organised by Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited in partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The NDIC earned the recognition after emerging second overall in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) conducted by the ICPC.
The EICS is an integrity assessment framework developed by the anti-corruption commission to promote ethical standards, accountability and anti-corruption practices across Nigeria’s public service.
The framework assesses Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government in four key areas: management culture and structure, financial management systems, administrative systems and anti-corruption initiatives.
Speaking at the ceremony, the ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, who was represented by the Director, Systems Study and Review Department, Olusegun Adigun, delivered a keynote address titled, “The Power of Integrity in National Development: Strengthening Public Institutions, Restoring Trust and Driving Prosperity.”
Receiving the award on behalf of the NDIC, Gambo commended Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited for recognising the Corporation’s performance based on the ICPC’s independently validated integrity scorecard.
She reaffirmed the Corporation’s commitment to maintaining high standards of transparency, accountability and ethical governance in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities.
According to her, these responsibilities include deposit guarantee, bank supervision in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria, failure resolution and bank liquidation.
Gambo said the award reflected the Corporation’s sustained efforts to maintain stakeholder confidence in the discharge of its mandates.
She noted that the recognition would further encourage the NDIC to deepen compliance with the highest standards of professionalism, excellence and public trust.
The Corporation, she added, would continue to focus on protecting depositors, strengthening confidence in the banking sector and contributing to the stability of Nigeria’s financial system.
The recognition, according to the NDIC, serves both as an affirmation of its achievements in integrity and governance and an impetus to sustain and improve its ethical standards.
