    Anambra women, teachers enjoy Rotary free healthcare package

    The Rotary Club of Onitsha Metropolis, Anambra state has offered free health screenings to women and teachers in the commercial city of the state.

    The free medicare organized in collaboration with Ultimate Destiny Uplifters Foundation (UDUF Africa) included blood pressure check, sugar Level and cholesterol test.

    The beneficiaries comprised of teachers drawn from five primary schools, members of Rotary and UDUF Africa.

    Others who showed potential health concerns were given medical advice and directed toward further care.

    President, Rotary Club of Onitsha Metropolis, Rtn. Oby Arinze said the event which was part of activities marking the 2025 International Women’s Day was to raise awareness about women’s health, particularly breast cancer, while also providing free health screenings.

    She reiterated Rotary’s dedication to impactful community service as well as commitment to advancing women’s health, education, and overall well-being in their communities.

    She encouraged women to take proactive steps toward their health and well-being.

    Delivering lecture, a medical expert, Prof. Stanley Anyanwu provided in-depth knowledge on breast cancer symptoms, prevention, and treatment options, emphasizing the importance of early detection, self-examination and regular screenings.

    In his address, Founding President of UDUF Africa, Dr. Ezuma Smart Chinedu emphasized the role of health awareness in community development.

    He highlighted UDUF Africa’s commitment to empowering women and ensuring that health initiatives reached underserved communities.

    He also advocated for youth engagement, leadership and community service.

    Beyond the health lectures and screenings, the event fostered collaboration and networking among participants who shared their experiences and discussed ways to sustain and expand women-focused health initiatives.

    They expressed appreciation for the opportunity to assess their health at no cost with a better understanding of how to safeguard their health.

    They also demonstrated shared commitment to women’s health and empowerment.
