From Yarima Haruna, Birnin Kebbi
Kebbi State chapter of National youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), on Sunday, commended the federal government for the rescue of students and their teachers seized in their school almost a month ago by armed bandits.
The Kebbi state chairman of the youth body, engineer Ahmed Abubakar Khalifa in a statement described their rescue as good omen to Nigerian and indication that Tinubu led administration is poised to end insecurity in many parts of the country.
He added that the students rescue has boosted the safe schools program being implemented to ensure peace returns in ravaged towns to promote education at grassroots and urban levels
”As youth we are particularly worried over kidnapping incidences in schools but what we are seeing now it is clear safe schools program is on course under the federal government,” he said.
Khalifa congratulated parents of the students, the federal government, teachers and particularly the governor of Kebbi state for the role they played in ensuring they end the feud between Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) and the Federal Government during the trying period.
While assuring the support of youth for the success of state and federal governments, he urged youth to refuse to be recruited into banditry saying for a peaceful country youth must resist tempting offers from dreaded groups.
