‎A 40-year-old man, identified simply as Felix, and said to be from Cross River State, has been found dead in a guest house along Azikoro Road in the Ekeki area of Yenagoa under circumstances that have sparked a police investigation.

‎Felix, who reportedly worked as a mobile phone repairer at the Ekeki Shopping Complex, was discovered naked inside a room at the guest house in the early hours of Wednesday after a cleaner reportedly noticed something unusual, and alerted others.

‎According to eyewitnesses, the woman believed to have checked into the room with the deceased could not be found when the body was discovered. Several empty sachets of alcoholic drinks were also reportedly recovered from the room.

‎Police officers later arrived at the scene, cordoned off the premises, and evacuated the body for further examination.

‎The incident attracted a large crowd of sympathisers to the Ekeki Shopping Complex, where friends, colleagues, and customers gathered in disbelief over the tragic development.

‎Sources said three persons, including the owner of the guest house and the cleaner, were taken into custody to assist with ongoing investigations.

‎The deceased’s brother, identified as Dennis, was also briefly questioned after he was found with Felix’s mobile phone. However, he was later released after explaining that the device had been handed to him by a phone charging operator following unsuccessful attempts to locate his brother.

‎Police authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of Felix’s death. Investigators are also making efforts to identify and locate the woman who was reportedly last seen with him before the incident.

‎The tragic occurrence has left residents of the area in shock, with many calling for caution and urging members of the public to avoid situations that could expose them to unnecessary risks while awaiting the outcome of the police investigation.
