From Hosea Parah
Former Governor of Kaduna State and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, has felicitated with the Nigerian Muslim community and all citizens on the occasion of Eid-el-Adha 1447 AH, calling on Nigerians to uphold the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, peace, and national unity.
In a goodwill message released on Tuesday, Senator Makarfi thanked Allah for granting Muslims the opportunity to witness another Eid-el-Adha celebration and urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in faith and devotion to God.
He described the festival as a reminder of the exemplary obedience of Prophet Ibrahim, who demonstrated total submission to the command of Allah by showing willingness to sacrifice his son.
According to the former governor, Nigerians should emulate the spirit of sacrifice, devotion, and submission to the will of God by sustaining their faith and continually praying for divine guidance and protection for the nation.
Makarfi also urged citizens to use the festive period for sober reflection on the state of the country and to seek divine intervention in addressing Nigeria’s numerous socio-economic and security challenges.
He stressed the need for Nigerians to work collectively towards realizing the country’s God-given potential by harnessing the positive aspects of its diversity.
“God in His infinite wisdom and mercy has created us with diverse endowments in both human and natural resources and decreed that we exist in this highly endowed nation as each other’s keeper,” he stated.
The elder statesman noted that peaceful coexistence and the effective utilization of the nation’s abundant opportunities remain the best ways for citizens to express gratitude to God.
Makarfi further prayed that the spirit of sacrifice, love, peace, and obedience associated with Eid-el-Adha would strengthen national unity and usher in hope, security, and prosperity for all Nigerians.
He also congratulated Nigerian pilgrims currently participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia, urging them to pray for Nigeria’s peace, security, development, and prosperity during their spiritual exercise.
The former governor wished the pilgrims a successful and rewarding Hajj as well as a safe return home, while extending warm Eid greetings to Muslims across the country.
“Eid Mubarak,” he said.
