The  Social Democratic Party, (SDP) has adopted  Amb.Mrs Margaret  Inusa Yahaya   as the consensus candidate  forthcoming  2027 Governorship in Plateau  State ,promised to improve the wellbeing of citizens with the support security agencies.

in her acceptance speech, Mrs Yahaya said, her electioneering campaign is anchored on “Not politics first. Not personal interests first. Not godfatherism first. Not empty promises first.

    But the people first”,.

she called on the  elders, traditional rulers, women, youths, party faithful, supporters, and fellow citizens to elect her as one of the credible candidate with mission and vision to transform  the State  to an enviable position of commercial hub of Africa.

According  to her, her heart  is full of gratitude,as she  gave  glory to Almighty God, the giver of life and the author of this moment and without him, none of us would be here today.

She  sincerely thank the leadership of their great party, the SDP, for this confidence and honour and thank every supporter who believed in this movement from the beginning.

Yahaya appreciated  the women who prayed for the success, the youths who carried this message from street to street, the elders who offered wisdom, and every ordinary citizen who refused to give up on Plateau State.

She  humbly accepted the responsibility and honour of becoming the Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party for Plateau State.

“But my brothers and sisters, this moment is not about me. It is about Plateau State. It is about our people. It is about our future.

Today, many families in Plateau are living in pain.

“Too many mothers sleep with fear because of insecurity and attacks in their communities. Too many fathers wake up every morning wondering how to feed their children.

“Too many young graduates roam the streets without jobs. Farmers can no longer go safely to their farms. Businesses are collapsing. Roads are broken.

“Hospitals are struggling. Schools are underfunded. Hunger is growing. Frustration is everywhere.

Across our villages and towns—from Jos to Shendam, from Pankshin to Wase, from Barkin Ladi to Langtang, from Riyom to Kanam—the cry of the people is the same”,She said.

“We want peace.” “We want opportunity.” “We want leadership that truly cares.”

My dear people, I hear your cry. I feel your pain. And I stand before you today not as a ruler, but as your servant.

Because leadership is not about power. Leadership is about people.

And that is why our message is simple, she added.

    THE PEOPLE FIRST.

Not politics first. Not personal interests first. Not godfatherism first. Not empty promises first.

    But the people first.

The widow in the village must come first. The unemployed graduate must come first. The struggling farmer must come first. The market woman must come first.

The teacher, the artisan, the civil servant, the young entrepreneur—our people must come first.

My fellow Plateau citizens, we cannot continue like this. Plateau State is too blessed to remain in hardship.

God has blessed us with fertile land, intelligent youths, strong women, mineral resources, tourism potential, hardworking people, and a beautiful culture admired across Nigeria.

Yet many of our people are suffering.

    That must change.

And by the grace of God, together, we will change it.

Our administration under the SDP will focus on practical solutions that directly improve the lives of our people.

We will prioritize security because no society can develop without peace.

No farmer should be afraid to go to the farm.

No child should sleep under the sound of gunfire. No community should feel abandoned.

We will invest massively in agriculture because Plateau State can feed Nigeria.

We will create opportunities for young people.

To the youths of Plateau State, hear me clearly:

You are not the leaders of tomorrow. You are partners in building today.

We will rebuild our schools because education remains the greatest weapon against poverty. We will strengthen healthcare so that ordinary citizens can receive quality treatment without selling everything they own.

We will fix roads, improve rural infrastructure, support local businesses, revive tourism, and open Plateau State again to investors and visitors.

Plateau should not be known for conflict. Plateau should be known for peace, beauty, agriculture, tourism, and prosperity.

My brothers and sisters, one thing is clear:

    We cannot move forward divided.

Plateau State belongs to all of us.

Whether Christian or Muslim, whether from the North, Central, or Southern zones, whether Berom, Mwaghavul, Tarok, Ngas, Goemai, Afizere, Hausa, Anaguta, Ron, Irigwe, or any other tribe—we are one people with one destiny.

Our diversity is not our weakness. Our diversity is our strength.

Those who profit from division will not define our future anymore.

The time for hatred is over.

The time for healing is now. The time for unity is now. The time to rebuild Plateau is now.

And let me say this today:

Hope is coming back to Plateau State.

A new beginning is possible. A better future is possible. Peace is possible. Prosperity is possible.

With the SDP, we are building a movement that believes government must work for ordinary people again.

This election will not just be about politics. It will be about the future of our children.

History is calling us. This generation must decide whether we continue the old ways or choose a new path.

I believe Plateau people are ready for that new path.

I believe our people are tired of promises without results.

I believe our people are ready for leadership with compassion, honesty, courage, and vision.

And today, I pledge before God and before the people of Plateau State:

I will not take your trust for granted.

I will lead with fear of God. I will lead with transparency. I will lead with humility.

I will lead with compassion. And I will always put—

    THE PEOPLE FIRST.

To every citizen listening to me today, I ask you to join this movement of hope. Talk to your neighbours. Mobilize your communities. Encourage the youths. Inspire the women. Stand for peace. Stand for unity. Stand for a better Plateau.

Together, we can restore the pride of our state.

Together, we can build a Plateau where businesses grow, where children learn, where farmers prosper, where communities are safe, and where every citizen has a reason to hope again.

The journey may not be easy. But no challenge is greater than the strength of united people.

And I believe in Plateau State. I believe in our people. I believe our best days are ahead of us.

Let the message go across every village, every community, every ward, and every local government:

A new Plateau is possible. A brighter future is possible. And with the SDP—

    THE PEOPLE COME FIRST.

May God bless you all. May God bless the Social Democratic Party. And may God bless Plateau State.
