Obodofei Integrated Services Limited has officially secured a license to establish a 25MSPD Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) processing plant in Bayelsa State, a milestone that reinforces Nigeria’s commitment to cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions.
The project, approved by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to expand gas-based infrastructure and reduce reliance on premium motor fuels.
The facility is set to be the first of its kind in the resource-rich Niger Delta, positioning Bayelsa State as a strategic hub in the country’s emerging gas economy.
Beyond energy transformation, the plant is expected to deliver significant socio-economic benefits, including job creation, local content development, and attraction of ancillary industries such as logistics and conversion services.
Obodofei has also invited investors and strategic partners to participate in the project, which promises both commercial viability and long-term scalability.
Management of the company expressed gratitude to the Bayelsa State Ministry of Trade and Investment for its support throughout the project development phase, highlighting the importance of collaboration between federal and state authorities in achieving national energy goals.
“The Obodofei CNG plant is not just an infrastructure project—it is a legacy initiative that embodies the federal government’s commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable, and economically resilient energy sector,” the company said in a statement.
