The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to the murder of retired Justice Ifeoma Okogwu. The suspects, as confirmed by the police spokesman in the state, SP Bright Edafe, are Godwin Mngumi, a 25-year-old security guard at the judge’s residence, and Nnaji Obalum, Mngumi’s friend.

According to reports, Mngumi was arrested on December 6, 2025, in Anambra State, while Obalum was arrested shortly after. The police recovered the retired judge’s mobile phone from Mngumi.

Mngumi confessed to inviting Obalum and another accomplice, who is still at large, to the judge’s residence, where they carried out the murder. The police are currently searching for the third suspect.

The retired judge, Okogwu, was found dead at her home in Asaba, Delta State, on November 27, 2025, with her hands, legs, and mouth tied.

The arrest of the suspected killer of a retired High Court Judge in Delta State is connected to the murder of Okogwu. Here is what happened:

Justice Okogwu was found dead at her home in Asaba, Delta State, on November 24, 2025, with her hands, legs, and mouth tied. The police investigation led to the arrest of Godwin Mngumi, a 25-year-old security guard at the judge’s residence, on December 6, 2025, in Anambra State.

Mngumi confessed to the crime and implicated two accomplices, Obalum and another person still at large. Obalum has also been arrested, while the third suspect is still being sought by the police. The judge’s mobile phone was recovered from Mngumi’s possession

The police believe the motive behind the killing could be robbery, personal grievance, or a broader criminal network exploiting domestic staff. The investigation is ongoing, with forensic analysis being conducted to determine the extent of each suspect’s involvement
