The Plateau State Government has partnered with SectorLead Limited to establish a 30MW waste-to-power plant, a project that aims to convert municipal solid waste into clean energy. This initiative is expected to tackle both the state’s energy shortages and waste management challenges.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, CEO of SectorLead Limited, Adedayo Mustapha, described the project as a “landmark development” for Plateau State, emphasizing its potential to improve the region’s environmental sustainability while promoting economic prosperity and growth.

The project aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7, 12, and 13, focusing on Affordable and Clean Energy, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Climate Action. It will reduce carbon emissions, promote sustainable industrialization, and serve as a model for eco-friendly infrastructure in Nigeria.

The waste-to-power plant will generate 30MW of electricity, boosting Plateau’s energy security and creating jobs during construction and operation. Mustapha praised the Plateau State Government’s commitment to sustainable development, calling the project a “turning point” for the state’s environmental and economic future.
