2. Data Privacy and Security: AI systems rely on vast amounts of data, raising concerns about data breaches and misuse. The lack of robust data protection laws in Nigeria exacerbates these concerns. Unauthorized data collection by AI-powered apps and potential cyberattacks underscore the need for stronger cybersecurity measures.

Dr. Oluseyi Akindeinde, Founder of Hyperspace and NeuRal, and Adesola Akinsanya, President of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association, stressed the importance of policy frameworks, regulation, and collaboration in mitigating AI’s negative effects and ensuring equitable distribution of its benefits.
