NCC bar Glo subscribers from calling MTN Network

    Published on

    The Nigerian
Communications Commission (NCC) has approved the partial disconnection of the Globacom network from that of MTN.

The NCC stated that the partial disconnection of Globacom from MTN is a result of Globacom’s failure to settle interconnect charges.

Reuben Muoka, the Director of the NCC’s Public Affairs Department, conveyed this information in a public notice issued on Monday.

He said, “Globacom was notified of the application made by MTN and was given the opportunity to comment and state its case.

“The commission, having examined the application and circumstances surrounding the indebtedness, determined that Globacom does not have sufficient or justifiable reason for non-payment of the interconnect charges.”

According to the NCC, upon the expiration of 10 days , from the date the notice was made public, “subscribers of Globacom will no longer be able to make calls to MTN but will be able to receive calls”.

It said, “The partial disconnection, however, will allow in-bound calls to the Globacom network.”
