‎The Plateau State African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate in the 2027 elections, Rtd General John Sura, has condemned the massacre of Mushere Community of Bokkos Local Government Area.

‎He expressed disappointment in the failure of managers of governance to protect the people saying .

‎”We need to rethink our approach, redesign and reorder the security architecture to effectively battle criminality and insecurity in Plateau State and indeed the nation at large,” Sura said in the wake of the reported attack on Kawel village in Mushere district of Bokkos Local Government Area in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

‎Sura regretted the negligence of certain aspects of the proposals that have been variously earlier presented on mitigating and bringing insecurity to a manageable degree in Plateau State.

‎”It is worrying to see that robust practicable suggestions have been shelved. Consequently, the situation keeps getting worse. The right mix of kinetic and non-kinetic methods are needed to deal with this unfortunate situation.

‎”We keep losing precious lives and valuable property to these monsters. We keep giving them strength by negating the citizen-based approach. We appear arrogant and do not listen to genuine advise from seasoned security practitioners including retired military and police personnel who are willing to give of themselves towards solving this menace,” he said.

‎While working to acquire control of constitutional power in the state, General Sura said he is calling on all stakeholders who were part of the rescue team earlier assembled, to come together and review the security package.

‎”We had a workable program for ameliorating this negatively disruptive phenomenon. We can come together, dedicate ourselves to making life meaningful to citizens by making it difficult for miscreants and detractors to have a haven in our state,” he said.

‎It is reported that over twenty lives were lost in the early Tuesday morning violent attack in the Kawel community.
