    Over 400,000 Applicants Set for Police Constable Screening

    In a recent press release by the Police Service Commission’s Press and Public Relations Unit, it has been confirmed that the screening for successful applicants for recruitment into the Constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force will commence on January 8th.

    This was contained in a statement issued by Ikechukwu Ani Head, Press and Public Relations
    Police Service Commission. Following a meeting held on Thursday, December 21st, at the Corporate Headquarters of the Police Service Commission in Jabi, Abuja, the Police Recruitment Board made several decisions regarding the next phases of the recruitment exercise.

    The preliminary stage of the exercise witnessed an overwhelming response, with a total of 416,270 Nigerian youths fulfilling the initial requirements. Of these applicants, 315,065 are for the General Duty cadre, while 101,205 are for the specialist cadre.

    Letters of invitation will be sent out to the successful candidates on or before December 23rd, 2023. The next stage of the exercise will involve both physical and credentials screening, which will be conducted in the applicants’ respective states of origin. To ensure a smooth process, the Board has directed candidates to bring original copies of their certificates and other credentials, including letters of attestation from their Local Government Chairmen and/or traditional rulers.

    The recruitment process will also include a computer-based test (CBT) to be held after the screening exercise, followed by a medical examination. Dates for these stages will be announced in due course.

    The states with the highest number of successful applicants are Kaduna, with 31,117 applicants, followed by Adamawa with 29,848, and Benue with 25,346. Borno, Katsina, and Bauchi also have significant numbers of successful applicants. On the other end of the spectrum, Anambra has the least number of successful applicants with 1,141, followed by Ebonyi, Lagos, and Abia.

    The Police Service Commission has emphasized that candidates must conduct themselves in a manner befitting Nigerian youths who aspire to join the Nigeria Police Force, an institution guided by strict laws and regulations and upholds discipline as a fundamental principle.

    Furthermore, the Board has issued a warning against fraudsters who may attempt to exploit applicants by offering assistance in exchange for payment. The entire recruitment exercise is free and will be conducted solely based on merit and performance at each stage.
