The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has allocated a minimum of N6.6 billion towards claims and compensation for 103,000 beneficiaries. The beneficiaries include 111 individuals provided with artificial limbs and an additional 11 sent abroad for further medical treatment. NSITF celebrated its achievement in winning the 2023 Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association’s (NECA) Award in the Best Service Delivery category.

During the NECA Annual Employers Excellence Award for 2023 in Lagos, NSITF’s Managing Director, Maureen Allagoa, expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing its motivation for the agency to achieve greater milestones. The award underscores NSITF’s recent advancements in implementing the Employees’ Compensation Scheme.

The NSITF revealed increased participation in its Employee’s Compensation Scheme, with 145,000 employers and 7.4 million employees currently enrolled. The accolade serves as a testament to the fund’s commitment to service delivery and the enhancement of workers’ welfare and social security.

Allagoa affirmed NSITF’s dedication to expanding social security to all Nigerian workers and reaching the informal sector, including traders, mechanics, hairdressers, market vendors, carpenters, and others. The fund aims to align its objectives with the Eight Point Agenda of the Tinubu Administration on Poverty Reduction.

NSITF highlighted innovations such as reaching 670 dependent beneficiaries and 852 disability beneficiaries on its monthly payroll, along with deceased dependents cared for until their last child turns 21 or graduates from tertiary institutions. The fund’s sensitization efforts led to over 145,000 employers and 7.4 million employees enrolling, while claims and compensations exceeded 103,000 beneficiaries.

The NECA award serves as a catalyst for NSITF to break new grounds in social security, maintaining a commitment to the high standards set in service delivery.
