The Enugu State Gubernatorial Election Petition Tribunal is set to render its judgment on Thursday at 9 am.

Observers consider this case to revolve around allegations of forgery, perjury, and significant noncompliance with the Electoral Act of 2022.

Anticipations are high, with many hoping that the judges will uphold the principles of justice and declare Chijioke Edeoga as the validly elected and returned candidate.

    By Ibrahim Danladi

In the wake of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s recent ruling, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has called upon the citizens of the state to maintain peace and tranquility.

In response to the judgment delivered on September 20th, which confirmed Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the APC as the duly elected governor of the state, Ganduje addressed the press at his residence in Abuja. He urged the people of Kano State to remain composed and assured them that economic activities would thrive once more.

It’s worth noting that the APC had contested the declaration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who represented the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), as the victor of the governorship election held on March 18th, 2023.

Accompanied by Gawuna and former state governor Senator Kabir Gaya, Ganduje expressed his belief that citizens would now be able to pursue their daily activities without apprehension of intimidation.

Furthermore, Gawuna, the APC candidate acknowledged as the winner by the tribunal, vowed to carry on the legacy of the previous administration, led by Ganduje, in which he served as deputy governor. He also encouraged the people to resume their work and business activities peacefully, attributing the judgment to the will of “Allah.”
