‎Several State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards have commenced registration and collection of initial deposits for the 1448AH/2027 Hajj, following directives from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

‎NAHCON had in a circular dated June 15, 2026 announced the commencement of preparations for the 2027 Hajj season in line with guidelines issued by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

‎The Commission fixed the minimum initial deposit at N4 million, pending the determination of the final Hajj fare after consultations and negotiations with service providers in Saudi Arabia.

‎It also set September 26, 2026 as the deadline for the collection of deposits by state boards, agencies, commissions and licensed private tour operators to enable timely planning and contractual arrangements.

‎In compliance with the directive, NAHCON’s Mahmud Babangida Beli, said in a statement issued weekend that many states have begun collecting deposits from intending pilgrims, while preparations continue nationwide according to the approved timetable.

‎NAHCON advised intending pilgrims to make payments only through their respective State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards, Agencies, Commissions, or licensed private tour operators, stressing that official receipts must be obtained for every payment as evidence of transaction.

‎The Commission explained that early commencement of deposit collection is to ensure proper planning for accommodation, transportation, feeding, healthcare and other logistics for the 2027 Hajj, adding that early registration by intending pilgrims would support smooth coordination of the exercise.

‎While reaffirming its commitment to work closely with state boards, licensed tour operators and other stakeholders to deliver a seamless and successful 1448H/2027 Hajj, it urged states yet to begin the process to expedite preparations in line with the approved timetable.
