Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that Wike is involved in a plot to arrest House of Representatives member, Ikenga Ugochinyere. The allegations were made by the Action Peoples Party (APP) and the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), but Olayinka quickly refuted them.
In a statement issued on Friday, Olayinka emphasized that Wike is focused on his responsibilities and does not have time for such distractions. He further described the CUPP as an “unknown and illegal entity,” urging those behind it to find more productive ways to spend their time.
Olayinka criticized Ugochinyere, accusing him of manipulating his political career by continuing to use CUPP, despite it being defunct after the 2019 presidential election. He also suggested that Ugochinyere’s involvement with the APP could be causing political friction, stating, “He is swimming in the Rivers of betrayal.”
Olayinka concluded by reiterating that Wike is committed to the development of the FCT and is not interested in engaging with “attention-seeking individuals.”
