Villarreal captain, Samuel Parejo, has expressed his support for Nigerian winger, Samuel Chukwueze, who recently left the club to join AC Milan in the Italian Serie A. Parejo encouraged the 24-year-old star to shine at Milan, a club that has been busy recruiting young talents in Chukwueze’s age bracket.
After negotiations, Milan and Villarreal agreed on a €28 million contract with add-ons for Chukwueze’s services, finalizing the Nigerian international’s move to the Italian side on a five-year deal.
Chukwueze is expected to form a deadly attacking partnership with Rafael Leao at Milan in the upcoming season. He had an impressive performance for Villarreal last season, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists.
Chukwueze and Parejo had a good relationship while at Villarreal, and as a token of gratitude and friendship, the Nigerian presented an autographed AC Milan jersey to the Spaniard upon his departure to Italy.
Parejo shared this heartwarming moment on social media and wished his departing friend the best, saying, “This year you will rock,” expressing his confidence in Chukwueze’s success at Milan.
Although Chukwueze didn’t participate in AC Milan’s final preseason game against Barcelona, he is expected to feature for the club in their Serie A season opener against Bologna on August 21.
