Several lives were lost and others injured following a tragic tanker explosion in Dan Magaji, Zaria, Kaduna State, on Monday morning.

The incident occurred around 8:30am near the Rochas Foundation School along the Kaduna–Kano Expressway bypass, between Kwangila and Dan Magaji.

According to eyewitness accounts shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X (formerly Twitter), the crash involved two fuel-laden tankers and two passenger-filled Volkswagen Golf cars.

The impact of the collision triggered at least five loud explosions, unleashing a massive inferno and sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky.

“All the occupants of the cars died instantly, except one driver who survived but sustained severe burns,” an eyewitness said.

Emergency responders worked to contain the blaze and clear the wreckage. Authorities were yet to release an official casualty figure as of the time of filing this report.
